Increase Traffic to your Website – the Basics
There are plenty of ways to bring traffic to your website. Some are free and some cost money. A few can cost a lot of money depending on the topic of your website.
Let’s start with the FREE ways to drive traffic to your website:
1. Directory traffic: This is traffic brought to your site because someone found you in a directory using a search engine, such as Google or Yahoo. There are plenty of smaller directories too. You should submit your site to as many directories as you can. There are some directories that charge money to be listed or for a premium place in their directory. I have not found that paying for these services brings in more traffic to my site, but others say it helps a lot. To bring in traffic from a search engine, you need to make your site search engine friendly. This is often referred to as SEO or search engine optimization. I have plenty of free tips and articles to help you with SEO for your site.
2. Banner exchange: You can make a banner for your website and exchange it with other sites. The easiest way to exchange is to join an exchange site. My favorite is LinkBuddies and they have been around awhile. They even have a free banner creator. There are more free banner creators on the web. The most common size is 468×80. For a link exchange through a service, you just put some html into your site where the banner will go and the banners from other websites in the exchange are loaded onto your page each time someone views it. Each time a banner is shown, you earn credit towards having your banner shown on other sites. At LinkBuddies, your banner is shown once for each two banners shown on your site. The nice thing is that you can put a banner on each page, so credits add up quickly. If you are just starting out and need some traffic quickly, you can additional credits, but this is not required. At LinkBuddies you get 500 free impressions of your banner when you sign up.
3. Forums: Join some forums related to the topic of your website, or other topics you are just really interested in. Post and respond to other posts. Answer some questions. Once you are actively participating in the forum, put a link to your site in your signature if it is allowed. Be sure to include it in your forum profile.
4. Blogs: Setting up a blog is free. Blog about your topic. Make comments in other blogs that are relevant to your topic. Make good contacts and exchange links between your blog and someone else’s.
5. Exchange text links: This can help with your search engine ranking as well as bring in some traffic. But don’t just exchange links with anyone out there. Exchange links with sites that will be of interest to the people who read your site. Links to relevant pages are always better than just a link to another site for the sake of having a link. Make sure that your links page is easily accessible from the main page of your site.
6. Email: Make sure to include a link to your site in your personal email signature.
7. Offline: Is your website part of your business? Put it on your business card, stationary, flyers, etc.
There are also paid methods of bringing in more traffic to your site:
1. PPC: Paid-per-click ads can be a quick way to bring in traffic. Popular programs are Google’s Adwords, Yahoo’s Search Marketing, MSN’s ad service and 7search. There are plenty of other programs too. The lesser know programs will probably cost you less money, but you will probably not get as much traffic either. The trick is to write a great ad that will make people want to click on it and combine it with low-cost keywords. If you are making money with the ads, then consider adding on some more expensive keywords. I don’t spend more than half of what I bring in on ads and this works well for me.
2. Paid traffic sites: You can pay to have somewhat targeted traffic driven to your site. If your site is new and does not contain Adsense ads yet (or a similar program) then this can be a way to spread the word quickly and inexpensively. Just be sure to read the terms of service for any affiliate program you join. Some specifically prohibit you from participating if you are using a paid traffic program to get a lot of traffic to your site.
3. PTR programs: Paid-to-read programs pay people to read emails. Basically, the program is acting as your affiliate. You pay them, they send out a great email and some of the people who read it will be interested, click on the link in the email and visit your site. Again, make sure that this is ok with any other program you may have running on your site.

I posted the Google webmaster report for January. There were rumors Caffeine went live, but it did not. More people are seeing the Google blue Jazz interface. Malware is becoming a bigger and bigger issues. Was there a Yahoo Search update or was it the paid inclusion results being removed? Google’s local business privacy blunder caused some overall concern. Google may return the SEO and web design local pack? Bing says they are slow and recommends you spam Digg or Yahoo Buzz. Microsoft adCenter offered free clicks, well – not really. AdWords tests a CPA lead form and also click to call on mobile phones. Also, most PPCers have participated in bid wars, while most advertisers are not afraid to make changes to their accounts. Finally Googlers were working on New Years and Google animated their logo for Issac Newton. That was this past week at the Search Engine Roundtable.

When I first begin article marketing I started naively and just picked a topic in internet and network marketing and just wrote the first thing that came to my mind. I had some idea as to why I was writing but I didn’t understand fully what would happen if I continued. Then, just recently, I made a commitment, even though it may take more time to do my home work by do my SEO first before writing. This was my breakthrough, you talking bout’ results with internet marketing this was the key. Because I am on my way to being a Top Notch Internet Marketing agency I had to do my due diligence and create and manage articles appropriately, without the fluff. I desired to give people content and value. So, what did I do to change this around it was simple I use this tool: Google Adwords Tool. You see it’s all about systems and tools. If you get the philosophy of “SYSTEM”, then you start use the tools with the system, it’s all over. You see when it comes to b2b marketing and internet marketing or even mlm, I am all about tools. Sometimes, ok just about all the time I get distracted when I hear about a new tool to maximize my SEO Strategies cause that’s what I am all about, of course much more than just that, but this is my niche, so I figure if I’m going to be good at something, I better do my research and BAM!!! Google Adwords Research tool for free is where it’s at. I thank God, my Lord and savior Jesus Christ, because when you have been doing this internet marketing for years, and nothing seems to be working Fo’ Real, I just prayed, ” God give me Wisdom on how I can do this for your glory, and BAMMM!. God show up and show out. I don’t make any apologies for mentioning my God. I’m I afraid of losing customers, no because if they accept me for me then that’s someone I was not meant to work with. This is my passion in Internet Marketing Ideas and all of me will come out when I am sharing my passion.
In your article marketing don’t forget to use marketing software like Onlywire. To get your stuff out there on multiple source at one time, which will save you time and money again.
Anyway, please don’t skip using your google adwords tool, you will find your self much more ahead of your competition. This online marketing journey for me has been up and down, especially, when you are trying to use it for your primary business. But life is beautiful and you live and learn. I have learned so much within the last six months, made some internet marketing mistakes and made some new friends on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, talking about social marketing time waster distractions, especially if you aren’t focused on the business and building true relationships at hand, but picked up FB Strategies and some great friends.

I’ve had my web site up promoting my service for a few years now and it’s functional no doubt, however it doesn’t pull traffic. I need someone to help with website and seo marketing!?
I have a website which is doing well but I think it could always do better. I have promoted it locally and using google adwords and have submitted it on various website etc but I need further help to build it up so it appears in search engines etc. I have recently had a lot of phone calls from flashy companies offering their services for £100 a month which is a lot and I dont fully trust them as they have a bad reputation once Ive googled the companies name. All I want is someone to help with keywords, search engines etc. The website is designed well and has a good layout so that isnt a problem but I just need help with all the technical bits as I have limited skills but understand some of the basics.
