Fad or Explosive Tactic for SEO

When a tactic works, one doesn’t run out and tell everybody!

So the only reason the so called “Gurus” were offering this valuable information for sale is because the concept was played out.

What works in promotion, may only work for a time, when EVERYBODY finds out, the results get downgraded.

When Google see’s massive traffic, it investigates, that’s its JOB, to deliver results for it’s customers. When Google spots a “loophole. Google rushes in to close that loophole.

One technique to gain advantage over your competing websites, is to “know thine enemy”, look at who ranks #1, #2 and #3 and see what they did to get that way.

So… I read a ‘white paper’ put out by a much larger Search Engine Optimization firm I compete against. That white paper “poo pooed” techniques that appeared to boost page rank and higher rankings in Google, but only did so for a short time.

… I thought about this, because I use some of those tactics to gain a quick boost.

Here’s what I came up with, this is an analogy:

The market is like the ocean, waves come in, waves go out. Google is also like that ocean, trends happen, then they fade… this is how it should be. SEO tactics come in vogue, then degrade in effectiveness…

Does that mean they didn’t do you any good? Of course they did you some good… they did if you got back links!

Don’t run out and buy everything the Guru’s are pitching.

Don’t try to compete against the masters, in the master’s Do Jo. You’ll lose.

You cut your teeth in this market, the niche market of Internet Marketing? You deserve to sit on the bench, you earned the right to sit on the bench, You put the time in, made a sale or two, got a page to rank, and now what?

Go down to the little leagues and kick some butt.

If you spent some time attempting to market Internet Marketing products to other webmasters trying to do the same thing you are- you were in some pretty tough competitors. Look at it this way: You made it to the NFL, even though you’re only good enough to be a bench warmer, take those skills and go after someone that ISN’T in your weight group!

The local google advertising market.

Those guys and gals couldn’t sell their way out of a paper bag.

How can I get better organic traffic into my arcade site?

I’ve done traffic exchanges, directory submitting, SEO, article writing, E-mail refering, premium link exchanging. So far link referal has helped the most. It grabs about 20 uniques a day if I spend 10 minutes on their site, but I’m out of idea’s. Since google is updating their Pagerank soon I need to really get noticed quickly. This is a serious question, but is there anything else that I can do that will easily bring in organic traffic?

There’s really no magic formula. Just keep trying to do all the things you’ve been doing – again and again (starting first with the most effective).

Getting traffic is a combination of a lot of things. The key to success is to create great content that visitors want to use, search engines will love and other websites will naturally link to. Of course, it’s easier said than done.

Here are some shoestring marketing ideas that can help you get the visitors you need at the least cost possible:

1. Create the best content you can with the best products you can possibly offer. Your content is your best advertisement – if visitors love your content, then they will go back and spread the word to others.

2. Make it easy for users to recommend your site. Viral marketing is very important — and easy to tap on the Web. But give your users the tools. Get a Recommend this Site script from websites such as cgiscripts.com and similar directories of scripts. Some even go as far as giving incentives to those who recommend the site to their friends. If only 10 people go to your site, but these 10 people invite 10 more – that’s additional traffic that you get for FREE!

Recommend Site Scripts (various) http://php.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
Big Nose Bird Recommend this Site http://bignosebird.com/carchive/birdcast.shtml
CGI Resource Index http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
Hostscripts http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Site_Recommendation/index.html

3. Rank well in the search engines (organic search results, not the pay per click). SEs can be a big source of traffic. The key is to create the best content in your niche. If you have good content, other websites will gladly link to you and offer your site as a resource to their audience. Check the on-page factors and be sure to get linked from authority sites in your topic area.

4. Send out press releases. While outfits charge as much as $650 per release, there are free press release submission places on the Web. Press releases allow you to (a) attract media attention; (b) get more back links to your website without sending each website an email request; and (c) get more visibility especially if your press release gets in Google News or Yahoo News.

5. Submit articles. Write articles and submit them to websites accepting author submissions. You get exposure for your business; establishes you as an authority in your field, and allows you to get backlinks for your website. If 50 websites publish your article and it contains a link back to your website, then you easily get 50 links from a single article. The more links you have, the greater your chances for increasing your search engine rankings.

7. Post a link to your site for free where it is allowed (always read the Terms of Use). Examples are:

SEO Basics – Starting With Search Engine Optimization Basics

by Bruce Clay, Inc

SEO basics start with the composition of the words on your pages and what intrinsic value they offer your audience. The first prerequisite of SEO is understanding the basic correlation of content composition and the impact that content has on rankings respecitively.

Relevance is the underlying criteria that search engines reward, if your content is specific, informative and manages to acquire click through traffic, then your pages have the trappings of becoming popular which is a component to acquiring a top 10 ranking.

Aside from the title tag, (the main tag you use to describe the content of the page) and the links that endorse your content through back links (links from other sites)and the copy (which is completely under your control). There are fundamental guidelines you can adhere to that will assist you in keeping your content on topic to elevate topical relevance.

What are Search Engines?

Search engines are a cataloging system that are essentially transparent in their composition. Search engines are expected to glean information and organize data from thousands of unique industries, compile that data and then, based on the fetch command you issue as a result of you entering a boolean query in the search box are then expected to retrieve the most relevant result.

Understanding the premise of how search engines function rather than struggling to adapt and muscle your way up the SERPs (search engine result pages) is far easier instead.

Through appeasing the laws of their construction (the mathematical algorithm, teamed up with it’s ability to gain contextual artificial intelligence like phrase rank algorithm, search engines have the ability interpret the context of your pages.

Your focal point is simply to provide the ideal (relevant) result according to their ranking criteria. Which falls into three categories.

These three measuring sticks search engines use to assess content in addition to semantic synonyms and related phrases are called allinanchor, allintitle and allintext.

Talk about green widgets enough on your page, they know your page is about green widgets (allintext), placing it in the title is also a great way to signal the plane (allintitle) or get enough links from other pages that say your site is about green widgets and even if it is or not, it can potentially rank for that or related phrases (allinanchor).

That in a nutshell is how SEO basics play out according the the search engine spiders (the little programs that scour the web looking for new or exciting information to report back to the index).

The next part of SEO basics will cover how to ensure that your content is spider friendly or how to invite search engine spiders to skim, index and rank your content.

In closing, the gist is (1) make your titles unique (2) keep your writing style focused and use key words (words containing the phrases you want to rank for) as well as develop as many on topic links from other sites to cement your position in the search engine result pages.

Just writing about it on your site is not enough, unless you sites has hundreds of thousands of strong links pointing at in, in which case it can rank on the title tag alone. That is called website authority and is yet another topic we will be covering in the future.

The most relevant search result is the one that makes it to the top 10. There are no secrets involved, just logical relevance, but popularity counts so don’t just write dry content.

The whole exercise of SEO is to get traffic from people. Since people pay the bills and not spiders, make sure you have something worth saying and they will take notice and pass it along.

Otherwise, you are only helping your competition by leaving your guests hungry or thirsty for more topical information about your subject. In which case, they will simply return to the search engine and click the next result in the list. So, the bottom line is user engagement aside from topical relevance and traffic.

Step One – You've Got To Ensure You Have At Least Ten Article Pages On Your Internet Site.

One of the nice things about getting visitors to your website using the search sites is the proven fact that if you know what you're doing you can literally fast track yourself to success and get giant amounts of rankings in your niche market. Step one – you've got to ensure you have at least ten article pages on your website. In this post I wish to show you precisely how to make this occur so that you can get the traffic that you need… The bottom line is that if you would like to get lots of traffic you are likely to want to have article pages. The largest reason for that is as you can only rank your default page for so many keywords at the very same time. 2nd , lose one or two back links pointing to your website, particularly if many of them are coming from a friendless or low raking internet site.

And ultimately, buy only permanent links and do not buy from sites that charge regular charges for their services. Joining in this practice will be futile for you and also your site since Google can simply perceive and penalise you for doing so. Whatever method you use to drive more traffic to your site or raise your PR , do not forget to plan and research each link building step you make. Your job is to learn which keywords and key-phrases are searched the most and create content containing those keywords and phrases. If it is on your internet site, your blog or in your articles, you have got to know your keywords and key word phrases. You made your content observable to the search sites by employing keywords that have relevancy to your internet site.

When folks type in your keywords into the search site your content will come up, and you'll get traffic to your internet site. Learn search engine optimisation : When you learn search engine optimisation you'll end up being one of the few successful social marketers who make cash on line. And even today, that still is still true. There are 1 or 2 publicity release services out there, very like article directory sites that permit you to submit your release and include a connect back to your internet site. Nevertheless a tiny smattering cost nothing, dozens charge less than 20 bucks and others will charge more. Unlike article directory websites, many of those sites aren't free.

Keywords are those terms that folks might use if they are attempting to find something that your website has to give. But just peppering your website with these terms, without any extra info, isn't enough for SEO. As an example, if your business is selling cameras, you would wish to include the word ‘camera’ on our site in as many techniques as practical in terms like ‘buy a camera,’ ‘best cameras,’ ‘camera for sale,’ and so forth. Terms related to your most important term-in this example, words like digital, photography, film, footage and so forth-strengthen the optimisation of your internet site more.

On Site SEO: If you don’t do this Your Competitors will Outrank you!

Whenever people think about driving traffic to a website the next thing that usually comes to mind is back links. This is very important, not only because search engines and web directories place great importance on it, but also because they are sources of direct traffic to your site. However, concentrating on building back links alone will not make you to outrank your competitors, you have to also do what is called on site SEO.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and it involves optimizing your webpages so that they rank high for specific keywords in your niche. When you build back links you are doing off site SEO, but when you tweak your page to make it search-engine friendly, you are doing on site SEO. Neglecting the later can compromise your search engine ranking.

If you ignore on site SEO your competitors will outrank you. Now you’ve known the importance of this, let’s now see how you can really do it.

Meta tags

We are going to focus on only two meta elements: the meta keywords and meta description. They appear within the head tag of your document. These tags once helped search engines to know what a page is all about but due to misuse, some search engines now neglect them, but they are still important.

The meta keyword goes like this:

And the meta description:

Title and Header Tags

Many people misuse the title and header tags. Search engines pay special attention to these tags. The title tag should contain a description of what a page is all about and this description should also contain your primary keywords.

The header tags range from h1 to h6 with h1 being the largest. This tags help search engines to understand the hierarchy of your site and they also place importance on keywords between these tags. So use your keywords between the heading tags.

Some people avoid using the heading tags because of their very large font-sizes. This would not be a problem if you know your CSS. You can quickly overcome this by using relative sizing. Set the body font-size to 1em and size other elements relative to that. You can give the h1 a font-size of 1.1em, h3 a font-size of .8em, h6 a font-size of .9em and so on.

Keyword Location

The location of your keywords is also important in SEO. Always place your primary keywords in the first paragraph of your content. Search engines will place more importance on keywords at such location.

Anchor text

Don’t link to different pages in your site with words like click here or get it here. Use your keywords in anchor text so that you can rank high in search engines for those keywords. This rule also applies when you’re building back links.

If one of your keywords is dog training tutorials, here is a good example of a sentence that contains the keyword anchor text:

We have several dog training tutorials that would help you turn your dog from a deaf and foolish pet to an obedient one.

Sitemap

Sitemap is a page that contains links to all the pages in your site. Sitemap helps search engines to crawl every page in your site. It also help your visitors to see the overall structure of your website.

Sitemap can increase your page rank because search engines take internal linking into account. The more pages search engines see in your website, the higher your page rank.

You can easily create a sitemap using free services like xml-sitemaps.com. How to do it is very straight forward. It is as simple as entering your main website URL and clicking on a button. After creating the site map, save and upload it to your root folder (http_docs or public_html).

Submit your sitemap to Google if you have a Google webmaster account. If you don’t have one get it at www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/siteoverview. Always remember to create a new sitemap and submit to Google whenever you update your site.

These simple on site optimization tips can go a long way to boost your website ranking.

SEO Article Writing Guidelines

What are the guidelines to SEO writing? Many ask this daily. If you have stepped into the world of SEO writing then you have discovered the SEO article writing guidelines. There is a lot more to SEO writing than most think. This is why the article marketing experts created the SEO article writing guidelines. Yes many great article marketing experts have different views of SEO article writing guidelines. Our views might be different from what you believe and what you currently do. I only know from experience with writing my own content for websites I own and here is what works best for me and my companies.

Let us talk a bit about what SEO is before we get into the SEO article writing guidelines for those that may be new or do not quite understand it. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. The purpose of SEO writing is to make your business more visual, more appealing in website search engines. Many people just dive in thinking that it is easy but it requires a few guideline rules in order for you to use SEO writing effectively. What are the SEO Article writing guidelines you ask then? There are not many SEO article writing guidelines. However the guidelines here are vital to have any success in SEO article writing.

SEO article writing guidelines number 1. Write good content, the number one rule in the SEO article writing guidelines. If no one wants to read what you wrote then the goal of SEO writing is out the window. Many businesses hire others mainly ghostwriters to provide eye popping content for their business website to lure readers to check them out. So the content has to be great. Being OK is just not good enough. For article directories to build back links OK is good enough but for website content it has to be awesome.

SEO article writing guidelines number 2. Keywords, they are little hidden subliminal messages within the writing that are to be in conjunction with the topic that is being written on. Keywords are very important to the SEO article writing guidelines. If you are a seller of fish bait an article you might want to do is what type of fish bait attracts which type of fish. Fish bait can be chosen as your keyword. So when someone types in fish bait in a search engine your article on types of fish bait will pop up (hopefully) a person will read it which in part can lead them to your business. Many get confused in this area of SEO article writing guidelines for either they in put too little or the wrong kind of keywords, or they mention the keyword way too much which is called keyword over stuffing.

Remember in SEO article writing guidelines you keywords have to make sense too. Meaning they should be relevant to the topic of the article. In fact the article it self should be in relation to what your business is. Fish bait seller is another example. Say you want to share a good fish recipe. Is that relevant to your business and getting potential customers to come to your fish bait business? Not really. Remember keywords are the KEY in SEO writing guidelines.

SEO article writing guidelines number 3. Keyword density. This gets a lot of controversy as to what is the right percentage to use. Well we all know that 2% or under is good for articles in article directories and blogs. How do we know this? Simple. The major article directories like Ezines, go articles and Isnare will not accept anything over 2%. But what about web content? In my SEO article writing guidelines I recommend you take your main keyword and 3 or 4 other related keywords and write at 3-4%. I’ve seen pages with 5% and 6% for 500 words and it sickens me! In a 500 word article at 5% for a 1 phrase keyword you will have it in the article 25 times. But what about 3 long tailed keywords? Well then you would have a quarter of the article keywords.

Here’s an example. Lets take the keyword phrases SEO article writers, SEO article writing and SEO articles. Well first off in each of the three phrases you have the words SEO and Article. So if you were to write 5% for each keyword then the word SEO and Article would be in the content 75 times each. So for 500 words of content at 5% for these 3 long tail phrases you would have 200 of the words keywords! So what do you do? For multiple long tailed over lapping keywords you write 1% for the over lapping keywords and 2% for the keywords that are not over lapping. This way in the end you will be at 3% for the over lapping keywords and 2% for the keywords that are not over lapping. With this SEO article writing guidelines formula it pleases the search engines and the readers reading the content. Many times people forget the search engines don’t buy your product and services, it’s the people actually on the website who will buy from you. It’s important to have optimized content but more important for the content to look and read well. This is one of the most important SEO article writing guidelines you must follow.

SEO article writing guidelines number 4. Be original, which is the forth important rule in SEO article writing guidelines. It is very important you work is fresh and original and in no way similar to someone’s work or you could be accused of plagiarism.

With these simple SEO article writing guidelines you will see a difference and will have more success. If you do not follow the SEO Article writing guidelines you effort may be in vain.

The Best Way to Market Your Articles is a Wide Distribution Network

Ready, set, go! You write articles, submit them to directories and forget them. The rest is history, right? Maybe. Some marketers get lucky and can create a host of back links and a surge in sales with very little effort. For the rest of us, however, even article marketing takes a little work.

It’s not effective to write drab articles because you’re only submitting your articles to free directory sites. On the contrary, these are the most important articles you write. These articles can be picked up from a wide variety of publishers. There is a huge potential to advertise your business or services and increase your revenue by participating in article marketing strategies. Just remember to give it your full effort and offer customers information they can use.

Getting your SEO articles in front of a carefully targeted audience is the main reason for submitting articles. The bigger goal behind article marketing, however, is to achieve wide distribution of the articles you submit to directories.

The Real Magic of Articles

Article distribution sites are great tools for article marketers. Not only do article distribution sites allow you to submit articles and showcase your expertise, but they also give their permission for publishers to read and snag your articles. A publisher can then use your SEO articles on their own websites, which in turn promotes you and your website.

The magic of article marketing doesn’t take place when you write an article, submit an article or have an article published on a distribution site. These steps are all important parts of the process, but the real magic of articles is when they generate interest from a variety of different publishers. Good things happen once the owners of e-zines, newsletters and blogs take notice of your article submissions. Wide distribution of your informative and highly focused SEO articles creates many back links to your website.

How to Ensure Wide Distribution of Your Article Submissions

One way to make sure that you’re article is widely published for maximum exposure is to closely follow publisher’s guidelines. Even if the rules you are asked to follow don’t make sense to you and they don’t seem to follow any logical pattern. There is a reason why publishers set forth guidelines and it is in your best interest as a writer to follow them. A good article directory site will allow you the maximum amount of creative freedom, while providing clear-cut rules on what is allowed and what isn’t when it comes to submitting an article. Common rules that publishers ask you to follow include: a specific word count, no links embedded in the body of the article, tightly focused keywords for your articles and informative articles versus sales pitches.

Promoting SEO Articles for Wide Distribution

The beauty behind Internet marketing is that after you write an article, ensure it contains the proper keywords to attract attention and submit it to an article distribution site, you’re ready to go. That is article marketing in a nutshell. You write articles, submit them to directories and watch as your articles are published across the Internet and in various other forms of media. This wide distribution of the articles you submitted is only as good as your articles and about the author boxes themselves, however. Just because article marketing seems easy, doesn’t mean that you get to slack off. Your article needs to be in prime condition when you submit it to a distribution site. It needs to be error free, carefully written, focused around specific keywords for SEO and your about the author box needs to be well-written and include the right links to draw people back to you.
