In our last video we talked about planning for your blog. In this video I provide a brief introduction and overview of search engine optimization (SEO) as it relates to blogging.
Search egnine optimization is all of the on-page and off-page tactics you can do to drive traffic to your site when people search on Google, Bing, Yahoo and other popular search engines. The tactics we use can help maximize your exposure on those search engines.
On-page optimization is all the things you can do on your blog to help search engines know what your website is about. There’s coding you can do behind the scenes and optimization you can do with the content itself. For example, you want to include keywords throughout your site so readers and search engines can index your site for the appropriate words.
Off-site optimization is all the things you can do outside your site to maximize indexing and traffic. For example, submitting your RSS feed to feed aggregators, submitting your sitemap, and getting backlinks from other high PageRank sites.
The most popular blogging platforms support SEO to some degree and provide tools to help make it easier. The key at this point is to write great content.

This video covers some basic information about one of the most important search engine optimization practices: link-building.
I go through the three factors that matter when it comes to backlinks:
1. The amount of backlinks
2. The value of those backlinks
3. And the anchor text of the backlinks
Each of these factors plays an important part in how Google determines where to rank your website in the search results. One of the problems with link building, is that any link you create yourself is less valuable than a link created by someone else. Obviously, someone else endorsing your website with link is better than you endorsing your own website with a link. Search engine spiders can sometimes determine whether link was built by you or not, but not always.
They do pay attention to whether a link profile looks natural or not. So, if you are just using a link spamming bot that creates identical looking backlinks in identical looking places, the search engines will notice this and de-value of those links.
Additionally to the number of backlinks, the value of those backlinks and the anchor text of the backlinks, a certain amount of ranomization is very important to make your link profile look natural.

What is SEO?
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) mean optimize you web page friendly with Search Engine. That’s very easy to read buy very difficult to implement. You know how to optimize you page for Search Engine like?
I would like to share my experience over SEO. I create new website last 4 months about comparison service. I believe in my mind I would like visitor to get the best benefit as much as they can. So I try to find any products and compare with many shops. That’s the point of this site. After it’s done 60%-80% I submit many directories (some are good and some bad). As I remember around 1,200 directories. On that time I do not concern about bad site and good site I know only “Submit”.
I use around a month with submit directory and later I change and update website to be the best. I have separate page for reciprocal link as well. After 3 months, I just check my backlink by SEO Elite and WOW. Only 20 directories have backlink to my site (from 1,200). Look terrible for me about “Submit Directory” Then I think submit directory is not work for me anymore so I try to use Social Bookmarking (Digg, etc..). Social bookmark can drive traffic but mostly no backlinks.
I try to learn about SEO technique from many forums site and found some technique to “Post Comment in Blog”. I think this way is the best to generate backlinks. For blog comment I have some tips to find related site you can try phase below in Google.
site:.edu inurl:blog “post a comment” -”comments closed” -”you must be logged in” “any niche keyword”
- site:.edu mean you select only .edu website.
- inurl:blog mean must has “blog” in domain
- “post a comment” mean specified to page can post comment
- -”comments closed” mean show result only active comment posted (Google Search Technique)
- -”you must be logged in” mean show result that do not need to register/login (Google Search Technique)
- “any niche keyword” mean you keyword related to your site
I try to comment many blog and yes I get some backlinks from their sites. But most of them “Nofollow” but don’t be serious you still get backlinks except PR transfer. Don’t worry.
Anyway, for submit directory I think I will be back to submit again but I need to select the quality link only. Most of quality link you need to reciprocal for sure. And the last one you MUST be concern is you content should be complete. You need to usually update your site (On page) to be friendly too.
I believe this is not my last article about SEO. I try to do many things for SEO and Traffic boost up. I will share my experience again if I can find something new on SEO Technique.

Seo for those with small budgets will take some time and should be a long term effort, but the benefits are many. If you don’t have the cash to manage using a service or one of the alleged experts, don’t worry. You can do this!
And even if you could afford an expert, you should know some basics. Otherwise it’s like hiring and accountant and not being able to add. You need some SEO knowledge even if you are outsourcing the job, to know how to shop for an expert, and what to look for and expect in a service.
SEO for your pages
Begin your SEO with your home page. Give it a worthy name. No, welcome will not do. What does that say about your page. Welcome is plastered on pages all over the internet and doesn’t do a thing for setting your page apart for many many others.
Give your home page, and all the pages of your site a worthy title based on your keywords. Get your page started off right by telling search engines and visitors right upfront what your site is about. The SEO benefits will be far reaching!
The same goes for your domain name. Whatever your site is focused on, find the best keyword and get it into your domain name. This may take a little work. You will find many names you want are taken. Don’t despair. Get your grey cells working, rearrange words, seperate with hyphens, do whatever is necessary, but find a way. This will further optimize your website and when links come in from just your site name think of the SEO benefits you will be getting with no further effort on your part.
Meta tags are being pooh-poohed these days, but put them in anyway. Yes some of the search engines will not read them, but others will and since search engine traffic is targeted to you keywords don’t turn down traffic even in small numbers. Small numbers interested in what you have to offer, beat large numbers that land on your site accidentally or with no interest.
Another advantage to good meta tags is that they are used by a lot of directories. You will find that when submitting to a number of directories they will automatically pick up and use the description you have entered in your meta tags.
Good website navigation and sitemaps are another way to further your on page SEO. Add both an html sitemap and a google sitemap. If your sites gets very large this could be of great benefit in helping the bots find all of your pages.
Simple, easy to understand navigation and inter-linking between pages is just sensible in helping visitors get around your site and the inter-linking will help out with backlinks.
Good original content is very important to SEO. Search engines look for original content and value it more than duplicate content. Make sure your site contains a large percentage of original content, and the more content and pages the better. Add pages on a regular basis, and update pages occasionally to keep the spiders coming back.
SEO off page
SEO on page is the foundation, and you need it, but off page SEO is even more important.
You must get links. You can begin your off page SEO with two way link which are easier to get. Two way links are easier, and they have less value, but they are a starting place and a piece of your optimization strategy.
Look for sites that add something to your website, and give value to your visitors. You don’t want to link to direct competition, but related resources. Check each site first and be sure it is a good website, has link pages that are categorized with a small number of related links per page. Avoid link farms that have hundreds of unrelated and uncategorized links on a single page, and sites that are totally unrelated to yours. These will take away from your SEO and could even do harm.
Submit to directories. You will find many directories that are free and will not require that you link back.
Write articles. This is one of the best SEO values on the internet right now. If you write and submit articles yourself, this can be done completely for free. As you budget has more room, you can automate this process. In the meantime, frequent article submissions will bring you lots of incoming links.
Write a good bio box in the third person. Include anchor text that points visitors and links to different pages on your site. This is one way you can use SEO and direct links and traffic where you want. Put some time into writing bio boxes. This is time well spent.
Forums, blogs, email signatures, and social bookmarking are other off page SEO methods that will enhance your SEO efforts and you should educate yourself on all of them.
Circulating free viral reports is another SEO method that can be accomplished free or for little cost and bring big rewards. There are many more methods of off page SEO that you can use and tweak to get better results. Always consider if there is a new way you can twist and old method to get better SEO results.
