SEO and Positioning Tips – Rank High and Fast

SEO and positioning your website to rank top spots in the search engines require some careful planning. Just like setting up a business or going to war, it requires strategizing for optimal results. Diving straight into the internet without any clear game plan is time-wasting, dangerous and more often than not, a futile attempt to rank any website for maximum targeted traffic. Let’s dwell a little deeper into some useful SEO and positioning tips to get your web pages indexed and ranking faster.

1. SEO and Positioning Tip 1 – Determine Your Objective

What is your objective in optimizing your website? Is it for maximum general traffic or targeted niche traffic? Once again, webmasters are unable to get this part clear. Many think that driving as much traffic as possible to their websites is the way to go. Unfortunately, this is a big pitfall. A web site may attract loads of traffic but yet don’t perform as well as another with little traffic but making more sales. Know what your objective is, to sell more products or to get more people to visit your website. If you are building an interest-based website or hobby website, perhaps getting maximum general traffic is the right solution for you.

2. SEO and Positioning Tip 2 – Plan Your Keywords Right

This is applicable for all websites that intend to tap into free organic traffic. By that, I mean SEO and positioning high in search engines for specific keywords. One clue for you before you compile your keyword list is to understand that search engines rank individual web pages, not websites. The systematic way to do it is to first look at your objective of SEO and positioning. If you are targeting a niche market, for example SEO tools, target the niche keyword SEO tools for your home page, and drill into this main keyword for related keywords such as SEO Elite, effective SEO tools, etc to target for each internal web page.

Don’t make the mistake like many webmasters do in targeting one main keyword for the entire website. The smart approach to SEO and positioning is to target a list of low competition, moderate demand keywords and rank well for them. This would potentially drive more targeted traffic, than to blindly hit at one main keyword.

3. SEO and Positioning Tip 3 – Simple Well-Thought On-page Optimization

Use your keywords in the meta-tags, web page title, sub-headers and web content. Make your web content unique. A keyword density of 1-3% and word count of more than 400 words is ideal for on-page optimization. Create a sitemap page to make search engines spiders love your web pages. This helps in indexing the internal pages fast.

4. SEO and Positioning Tip 4 – Effective Off-page Optimization Techniques

Building link popularity of a website is far more crucial than any other factors for SEO and positioning for top search engine ranking. But pay attention to who your link partners are. Trade links with websites in a similar niche, and high Google PR if possible. Links from authority websites such as educational or government websites, ie domain names with .edu or .gov extensions are valuable. Buying links from link partners is perfectly fine if you can verify the quality of the websites. Search engines nowadays can be quite demanding and look for quality more than quantity of links.

5. SEO and Positioning Tip 5 – Using Search Engine Optimization Tools

Webmasters used to do everything traditionally from on-page optimization to off-page optimization such as emailing fellow webmasters to exchange links. Technology and software development has made it much easier for SEO and positioning websites using search engine optimization tools. These smart tools are designed to automate all manual tasks necessary to grab a top search engine ranking for a website fast. Almost every webmaster has one or two of these in their arsenal as they are big time and money savers.

what is SEO (On Page and Off Page)?

Hello, SEO is first of all a great concept to delve into.

Now, SEO it self stands for "Search Engine Optimization". What this means is, that you are optimizing, or designing your website to gear its content towards the nature of the major search engines (Google for most but also Yahoo, MSN, bing I guess!) with the goal of boosting the traffic to your web site. You want to be targeting specific keywords, so that when customers / readers of your site go and search for those keywords in the major search engines, they will hopefully come across your site in either the top or top 5-10 positions. This will help (if your site is an e-commerce website) direct traffic, and therefore potential customers to your store. If you are an informational / non-profit site, you want people to know about you, right?

There are two different and major categories of SEO and these come in the form of On Page versus Off Page SEO. A great article may explain this better here (http://ezinearticles.com/?On-Page-and-Off-Page-SEO-Factors&id=2458713) but I’ll do my best:

Essentially, On Page SEO deals with, as I said previously when describing the general SEO, gearing your website’s content to comply with the major search engines. Things like target keywords, original content, etc. play a major effect in this category and are very important in the grand scheme of things.

Off Page SEO deals with external information not presented by your website but things that also determine how high you rank in the search engines for a particular keyword. Things like back-links, anchor text links and other things play a massive role in determining your ranking (PageRank for Google) as keywords have become increasingly easier to spam, and therefore, less important to you ranking, letting certain aspects such as back links play an increasingly more prominent role in determining your ranking on the search engines.

Please, again, check the article, as I have described the very basics of SEO and what is about and for, but the article goes more in depth and if you still have further questions, please feel free to contact me for further help. I too have only scratched the surface of this intricate concept, and everyone in this field is learning more and more all the time!

Can anyone recommend a good article or directory submitter for seo?

Replies would be much appreciated

Stay away from directory submitters. Truth is that there are only a handful of article sites that give decent page rank. In my opinion the only two that are worth your time are Ezine and Squidoo. The rest of those sites are worthless. The following link is a good article on do-follow sites.

Seo – Should You Outsource Your Seo Articles To India?

Outsourcing dominates the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) copywriting business simply because writing bulk articles is the nature of the business. There is a big demand for multiple articles to be submitted to search engines as portal pages as well to ezine article directories and blogs. When you have a big job, outsourcing makes sense because the articles can be had for cheap. SEO copywriting often entails the writing of twenty or more articles (even hundreds of articles) about one particular subject. If you are busy running your ecommerce business this means that you might have to outsource this material to a freelance copywriting service.

Many agencies and auction sites online provide outsourcing from companies like India. Many of these companies have their own site on the web. They are also a strong presence on guru.com and elance.com where they are able to underbid North American copywriters by bidding for jobs at 95% the going writer union price. Outsourcing your copy written material to India is a very viable solution as long as you don’t care that somebody who can barely understand English may write your articles. However all that matters here usually is that the keywords are in place so that the search engine can understand them.

Whether you choose a North American or Indian provider is probably largely dependent on the purpose of your articles. If they are more meant to be search engine spider food, then outsourcing them to India is a cheap solution. However, if you feel that the language barrier could be a problem and you are more interested in the subtle crafting of your material so that your SEO articles are reading in what advertising copywriters call a “naturalized” fashion then you are probably better off to hire someone who is more local.

Outsourcing sometimes make a lot more sense in terms of time vs your cost.

Why can’t I find my seo’d web-page?

Hi, could you please tell me why I cant find my web page on a keyword search in google.

I made this particular web-page about a month ago, and this particular page is a page I added as a extra page to my main website that I have had for about 3 years, anyway after making the web-page I went to ezine articles, article base and go articles and wrote some articles and pointed them to the web -page, now when I do a keyword search, I can find the articles but not the web-page, its just not there in the results, (the web-page was optimized) the keyword is in a very small niche as I am a newbie to this I was just testing to see if I can make things work. Thanks for any help

Like others have said, we need the URL. There are white-hat (good) and black-hat (bad) methods of SEO. If you get caught black-hatting your site you can have very negative reprecautions, worst case a permanent removal of your site.

I just merged my marketing company with an excellent SEO firm to create http://www.Webmosa.com. This site is only one month old and is already page 1 for "Tacoma SEO" – crushing our competitors who have been around for years.

If it is a business, I would recommend talking with a professional. They will need your URL and should be able to fix it for you.

What are some websites were you can PUBLISH an article with a link for SEO?

please dont give me some sites that have nothing to do with my question.

There are literally thousands of article directories on the internet. Listed below are the 10 best, according to search engine results, Google PageRank and Alexa traffic rankings.

1. EzineArticles.com is a matching service between tens of thousands of expert authors and millions of readers & publishers looking for expert solutions to millions of problems. EzineArticles is owned by highly-respected entrepreneur Chris Knight, and is arguably the king of article directories. EzineArticles has been around since 1999. PageRank: 6 (http://EzineArticles.com)

2. GoArticles.com is owned by Canadian publishing giant, Jayde Online, Inc., and has been around since 2000. PageRank: 3 (http://GoArticles.com)

3. WebProNews.com is an articles and newsletter database covering a variety of ebusiness topics including SEO, SEM, Affiliate marketing and ebusiness site design/development. WebProNews has been around since 2000. PageRank: 6 (http://WebProNews.com)

5. Searchwarp.com is one of my favorite article directories, because it feels more like a friendly community than an article directory. It`s very colorful and vibrant. Another reason I like it so much is because they publish the author`s picture along with their articles. In fact, I liked their concept so much, I borrowed it when I started my own article directory. Searchwarp has been around since 2002. PageRank: 3 (http://SearchWarp.com)

6. Isnare.com is an outstanding article directory owned by Glenn Prialde of the Phillipines. Isnare has been around since 2004. PageRank: 4 (http://Isnare.com)

7. Buzzle.com features its own directory, free e-mail, message boards, news, articles and short stories online. Buzzle provides information on health, travel, science, technology and lifestyles. Technically, Buzzle is an online news magazine. But you can submit articles to them, once you pass their approval process. Buzzle has been around since 1999. PageRank: 5 (http://www.buzzle.com/authors/become-author.asp)

8. AmericanChronicle.com is another one of my favorite article directories. Actually, it`s a family of 21 different article directories. Like Buzzle above, it`s techically an online news magazine. And also like Buzzle, you can still submit your articles to them, once you pass their approval process. AmericanChronicle has been around since 2004. PageRank: 5 (http://www.americanchronicle.com/notices/submit_info)

9. IdeaMarketers.com is a great article directory that will not only let you submit articles, you can build your own ezine as well. IdeaMarketers is owned by highly respected entrepreneur, Marnie Pehrson. IdeaMarketers has been around since 1998. PageRank: 5 (http://Ideamarketers.com)

How to get more traffic on my web page?

What are some ways i can get more traffic on my web page for free aside from SEO?

Adding links to your site is the ultimate goal in either case, this can be done with blog comments, social bookmarks, forum post signatures, links from your own satellite sites, directory submissions, articles submitted to sites like ezinearticles, or press released.

All of the off site SEO strategies tend to use the same promotion methods as a free direct approach, that is, finding places to add backlinks to your site. These links will almost always be seen by the search spiders, adding to your search ranking, but anytime one is clicked by a person, you have generated traffic independent of search engines. One distinction, SEO oriented backlinking efforts should be limited to dofollow links, while a well placed nofollow link on a hi pr site would be chiefly of value as a direct reader click traffic source.
