I need someone to help with website and seo marketing!?

I have a website which is doing well but I think it could always do better. I have promoted it locally and using google adwords and have submitted it on various website etc but I need further help to build it up so it appears in search engines etc. I have recently had a lot of phone calls from flashy companies offering their services for £100 a month which is a lot and I dont fully trust them as they have a bad reputation once Ive googled the companies name.
