A great evening in Manhattan, a fantastic atmosphere in Madison Square Garden. Web business people is waiting this match for a long time. One side there is Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing on the other, both seems fit and there is desire to win on face. Last years both sides challenged to other but they never came to face to face. Before the match starts, lets take a short look to their career, strength and weaknesses.
Called SEO is short term of Search Engine Optimization. A milestone in web business since the search engines are the main source for web users before they buy services or products online. I would like to talk about Yahoo and Live search engines’ secrets either but as mentioned they are my professional secrets for now, if you don’t know these, its impossible to get top results on Yahoo or Live.
Search Engine Marketing (Pay Per Click) is paid inclusions as seen Sponsored Results on engines based on pay per click. This marketing tool has been increased enormously in these years, even with expensive per click rates. In some keywords or phrases a click may cost 10€ ( online dating industry) whether visit converts to a lead or not. Lets say few words about Google Adwords. Google has 2 different networks such as search network and content network. If SEO and SEM are powerful marketing tools which is the best and effective on sales conversion rates? This is the fatal question, both have advantages changing to the case, then lets compare:
A)In SEM, your web site does not need a change in most cases. If you want high conversion rates, a SEM professional should prepare high quality landing page is necessary only, not your entire design. On the other hand SEO may require some major design changes to get good spidering by engines.
B)PPC Ads charged when clicked only, displaying your ads will not cost you anything but poor Click Through Rates will increase your minimum per click costs. SEO visits are free of charge as visitors comes by clicking the natural search results from a search engine. Most visitors likely to trust a site they find on a search engine, they feel like natural results have been approved by the search engine.
C) SEM brings very quick results to analyze your campaign while SEO effects can take long time on ranking. On Adwords, just 15 minutes is enough to display your campaign on screen but SEO results may take up to 3 months on engine’s ranking.
D) ROI and Conversion rates are higher in SEM because you may design different landing pages according to your major products or services with price charts, feature comparison tables .However in SEO, you can not make these much because your most powerful PR page is your homepage so your sub pages which includes your product specification will not get listed higher than your main page.
E) Targeting is easy in SEM with campaign settings option. You may target national ,regional or international geographical areas depending on your shipping options. Google has features to promote your local business with accessing your business address or just selecting distribution area on Google Map. Another useful tool is matching options are enables you to select broad ,phrase,exacxt or negative matches while displaying your ads.When you prefer SEO, you can not prepare different target pages as they will be sub pages and will not get listed higher than your main page as above.
F) SEM limits you with your budget because your ads campaign will stop displaying when your daily, keywords or monthly budget is reached while SEO results longer even months after optimization work is done.
Finally who wins this match? Well, this depends on your expectation, budget and targets from your campaigns. As long years professional , I dont have a preference . Each business needs different campaigns, you may select to attract new clients in both tools while achieving your corporate targets.

7 Things To Look For When Hiring An SEO Firm
You know by now that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a technique used by website owners to drive “natural” traffic to their website. But do you know that SEO is not as easy as it sounds – it needs an experienced firm to perform SEO, and it needs some time and research to hire such a specialized firm?

Is the firm reputable? The SEO firm you are employing must be on a sound footing and it must stand head-to-head with its peers in the industry. This is not to say that we have anything against small SEO outfits who are just starting out – go with them if you feel they have the credentials and the capacity to do your work, but at your own risk.
Does it have an established client base? If an SEO firm is good, clients will flock to it automatically. So, does your SEO firm have a list of esteemed clients, or is it into SEO for websites who should be confined into the web junkyard? Find that out and go with an SEO firm that has a solid client base.
Does it use black hat techniques? Black hat techniques stand for unethical ways of performing SEO. If an SEO firm has ever spammed, or lifted articles, or created web farms to generate traffic, or used any technology to fool the search engines, then stay away from such a firm. You can find out if a firm is into black hat techniques by looking at their client list and talking to the clients, specially the old clients.
Does it have the right employees? Your SEO firm should not just have technically qualified, experienced employees – it should staff them in adequate numbers too. There’s really no point of going to a well reputed SEO company that has 5 employees and a roster of 200 large clients.
Does it offer all the SEO services? A good, well-established SEO firm will offer all SEO services under one roof – sourcing and submitting articles, programming, directory submissions, blog posting, search engine submission, link building, etc. If your SEO firm offers only a part of such services, ditch it, because you can’t be running around to two or more companies trying to perform SEO on your one and only beloved site.
What about its employees’ skill sets? You can get the best articles published and the best of sites to link to your website, but that won’t do a lick unless your website’s design, layout, navigation is search-engine friendly. The employees at a good SEO firm must be experts in website design, programming, understanding how search engines function, link building, directory submission and web traffic analysis, and these guys must be working in-house – these skills must not be outsourced.
How does the SEO firm respond? Does the firm respond in quickly or do they return calls in a few days. If they take over 24 hours to return your call, don’t even consider them.
Once you have determined that an SEO firm fits your requirement, check to see if their costs will match your budgets and if they have a person on board whom you’ll be comfortable working with. And if everything seems okay, go for them.

The Usability of Website and Search Engine Optimization
My focus is on how website usability goes hand in hand with good SEO. Usability science, or human factors, pursues the quest for human-computer interface designs that are easy to use. While Usability Day is about technology as a whole, and how that technology makes our lives easier, this article will turn its attention to website usability, and how it can be important in search engine optimization.
Website usability deals with ease of navigation, how colors work together to enhance a user experience without hurting the eyes, the size of fonts, and design. But some of the concepts of website usability have a direct effect on how search engines crawl your website, and index it accordingly.
“Memory is part of usability. That’s why navigation is such a pain in the neck to work out and make usable for everybody who will use your web site. There are ads, images, blinking thingy’s distracting your eyes, and your mind is going everywhere at once”.
Usability Testing
Web site usability focuses on what happens after users arrive on a Web site. When usability professionals perform formative tests on Web page prototypes, the initial assumption is users have already landed on a specific page. Usability professionals observe what people do once they arrive on that page. Do they take the desired call to action? Do they understand what page they’re viewing? The focus of formative usability testing is to create a user-friendly interface. It isn’t how to encourage people to visit your Web site.
